People mostly use Hoya 72 type NIR filters for "IR photography". I was quite surprised to see that my K-5's sensitivity to near infra red dramatically increased with use of filters with cutoff point much higher than 720 nm. Below are sample results for IR 950. Tomorrow I will test IR 1000. Second picture shows what is left after in-camera subtraction of cyan and magenta. Other than it I did not postprocess anything. Obviously AF won't work for NIR .Same with prefocusing without filter - due to different refraction angles for NIR.
