Depth Measurement: K5 + DA21mm?

I've just about decided on getting a K5 with a 21mm prime Limited to accompany me on my hikes here in the Southern Appalachians (I take mostly forest/streamside shots, with the occasional Last of the Mohicans vista thrown in.) As I think of my carry options, I'm wondering just how deep this camera/lens combination would be--I'm thinking a smidge over three inches?

Thanks in advance--and I'd certainly appreciate any insights, especially those who use this lens in similar environments.

I think 3 inches is right on the mark. The combo is certainly very compact

I'm measuring 4 inches from the edge of the eye cup to the front of the lens cap. It really is a nice compact solution for hiking. The 21mm is one of my most used lenses when I'm on the trail.

99mm with hood and lens cap on. It is a great combination; if I took just one prime the DA21 would be my first choice for fine weather.
It is even more compact with the K-01, and easier to get in and out of bags.

Outstanding, thanks for the feedback--I was thinking it couldn't be much bigger than a Panny GH3. Any thoughts on what might make a robust, holster-type case for that combination of body and lens? I've done a quick scroll through Think Tank and LowePro's websites, and while I don't need overbuilt, mil spec gear, most of their attachment points struck me as a bit fragile for off-trail slogs.

You might have to do a little math comparing the K30 and K5 bodies.

K-30 no lens cap but with a 49mm filter attached == 4" maybe 3 - 15/16"

I just checked the DA21 on the K-01: 93mm, so an appreciable difference.

I've been hiking in Yosemite for the last month. I've always got my K-5 with 18-135 WR attached (or the 21mm on occasion), connected to me with a B-Grip Evo. It's perfect for hiking. Stays in place. Doesn't bounce around. It withstood Class 3 hiking with no issues.

Thanks Geomez--I've been eyeing both the B-grip and the Peak Designs "Capture" system...they really seem perfect for hiking. My only worry about them would be both the moisture here in the humid Southeast and the undergrowth I experience off-trail. (Both rhododendron and dog hobble can get awful grabby at times.) For the wide-open West, though, I'd have to say you've got some well thought-out kit.
