Haven't upgraded to the K5, won't be upgrading until it's to a full frame. Sorry Pentax.

Ok - thought I missed something - thanks!

And I shy away from the rumor section. The last time I spent a half hour reading there I wanted to then throw all my Pentax gear in the river then drive my truck off a cliff.........

So that brings the question - how can anyone answer a poll like this when the question is if someone is upgrading to a camera that doesn't exist?

I never buy a new model immediately following it's release - might as well be feeding euro/dollar-bills to a campfire, same result and I prefer to let others experience any wrinkles in the new product (firmware hickups, sensor stains etc). Also, not sure who needs an update, the camera or the photographer in my case. A 24Mp APS-C monster sounds just like my thing (no need/want for FF here) but do I really think it will improve my skills or enable me to shoot something I am not able to now?

I'm lusting after the Ricoh GR instead which will not leave any budget for other stuff anyway.

Since I'm struggling with the K5's AF system (not fast enough) I considered to trade my K-5 in for a K5II(-S).
I'm glad my "feeling" told me not to do it last saturday!

ThereŽs really one option missing: "selling K-5 and getting K-5II". To take advantage of an even more discounted price..
I think IŽll go that route for better AF / AF consistensy. Gapless LCD wonŽt hurt either.

If the K-3 materialises and turns out to be really good I might just consider upgrading from my very trustworthy and faithful K10D...

Didn't answer poll as I don't know the specs of the next camera. I do own a K5 and a K5-IIs so I am pretty much good to go for now. Both are working fine at the moment but every once in awhile the K5-IIs takes a photo with a weird color shift to it. It has happened 3 or 4 times in some 800 or so images.

Lenses are more important to me now.

Just share my idea ! I am new member from Thailand, having K-30 due to last 20+ years i started with pentax Z-20 but stop photography for long time.
Actually i returned & started with Nikon 3 years ago. Today i have D600 & D7000 and canon 650D and the latest one is K-30.

I keep all cameras, not trade or sell them because i prefer to be photographer not technology follower.

Anyway, if all of you have K-5, it is very..very.. good camera as K-30 a lower class can easily beat my D7000.

P.S. K- 30 is very good camera which i will keep it with me for long time and i would buy one FX whenever Pentax release it.

( sorry for poor English )

There's a second part to the question - timing. I probably would not upgrade immediately - I'm very happy with my K-5 II.

In a year or two or three, perhaps. But the K-5 II is an excellent camera and imaging tool.

I am looking for the k-30 (different color of course) for my wife and the k-5IIs to replace my k-5 (which will be my backup camera). Interesting time now to watch for the stocks of k-30 and k-5IIs. I will consider the new k-3 or whatever a year from now....

The poll is odd. I do not have a K5. I will not buy a K3 if it's APS-C, though. If FF, then I'd be sorely tempted, although I have more stake in a cheaper 645D. I dislike the DOF and viewfinder of APS-C cameras so will never invest in them. Currently, I work analogue (6x6, Pentax 645).

What's odd about it?

Can't really think of a reason to replace my K-5 until the day it dies.

And certainly not with a fictional camera

(Btw, the rumours section is a bizarre universe I stay out of!)
