Reset Settings

Hi all,

I have a K5 and I have a problem.....

I may set the ISO to a very high value for a photo. Or I may increase/reduce the flash power for a picture. Or any other setting. The problem I have is remembering to reset when I've finished. The result is the next photo I take (may be weeks later) is over exposed or whatever and I spend valuable time trying to figure out why. What I want is the following (probably enabled/disabled via a menu setting).

When the camera is physically switched off I'd want all settings to revert to a specified set. By default this would be the factory settings. But it would be nice to define these.
When the camera merely goes to sleep I'd want the same control. That is either to retain current settings or reset (Menu Selectable Option).

You can imagine wanting to retain the current settings if the camera goes to sleep but to clear them when switched off. At least I can.

Of course, you can't expect the physical switches to move (like program) but I'm talking about the software settings.

The K-5 has a memory menu. In that menu you can specify what it should and shouldn't remember after being powered down.

Great, thanks. Will give it a go. Do you know I spent 2.5 weeks on holiday staying at my daughter's house in Florida (I'm from the UK) and during spare moments I read the WHOLE of the K5 manual (with camera at my side) and explored every feature and option! Must have been suffering overload as I do not remember discovering this feature. Thanks.

Check page 312 of the User's Manual.

We've all been there. I have almost everything returned to defaults, this way it is at least consistent, especially important with several cameras around, its nearly impossible to remember what I last did..

The other thing is once you have your defaults set in the memory all you have to do is switch off and on if a image looks wrong and you don't know why.
Memory 1, untick flash, drive, white bal, sesitivity,ev comp, custom image, tick flash comp and set flash comp to -2
Memory 2 untick all exept playback and file no
That's how I keep my two k5

You can also save you most used "mode" under one of the "USER" presets, all you've got to do next time is to flip the MODE dial on anything and then back to "USER" and it will reset whatever the changes you might have made.
