K-5II Dust Removal

This might be a stupid question, but :

I've just upgraded to a K-5II from a K-7. On the K-7 the ultrasonic dust removal was clearly audible. On this K-5II nothing can be heard. Is this normal for the K-5II or have I got a duff sample ?

If you're paying close attention, you should be able to hear it by placing the camera close to your ear. You'll never hear it during everyday use.

Yep, very quiet compared to earlier versions. I went from k-x to k-5 and was sure there was something wrong with the k-5 as I could not ever hear the dust removal. My hearing is not what it was. I do think it works much better than the k-x variety. I rarely see any dust spots on the k-5 or k-5II.

Same here. The K-x dust removal sounds as loud as a paint mixer, and feels a bit like that too. So when I got my K-5 I found it hard to believe that the dust removal was actually working. But it seems to work - after almost 2 years of usage, dust on the sensor has been very rare on my K-5.

Thanks everyone. I'll assume that it is working, time will tell.
On the K-7 it made a whistling noise but the best it ever seemed to do was to shuffle dust from one end of the sensor to the other
