Quote: When viewing images in playback mode, the K-3 now tells you when you've reached 100% magnification (on 24-megapixel files, an "100%" icon is shown at 8.3x zoom).
Does anyone know what zoom level on the K-5's LCD equates to 100%?
I’m too lazy to search, but the consensus was ~8×…
For the K-3 it’s easy because both the sensor (6016×4000) and the LCD (720×480) have an aspect ratio of 3:2. 100% would correspond to a magnification equal to the ratio of the diagonals (7724/865=8.349). Bingo.
The K-5 is a little bit tricky because the sensor (4928×3264) has an aspect ratio of 3:2 and the LCD with VGA 4:3. That’s why we get a 56px black bar on the bottom of the LCD at 1×. Only at higher levels the entire LCD is used. 100% ~5911/800=7.389. So 8× is the closest we can get with the zoom levels supported by the firmware.
