I tried to order a Tamron 28-75 years ago but, it was lost/stolen in-transit. I should have taken that as an omen. I have to admit that I almost posted all of my stuff on this site after the length of time it took for me to order a single lens in a Pentax mount. I was beyond torqued. I can't believe that other Pentax owners don't feel the same frustrations from time to time. My equipment, all the way back to my manual M-series lenses are in immaculate condition, too.

Focus on K5 IIs is much better:

K5 top vs K5IIs below.
Both are pictures were taken using auto ISO, same exposure and AF settings, under low Tungsten light. For some reason auto ISO on K5 was set to 6400.

How do you think the FA* 28-70 f2.8 would get along with the K5iis ? I'm seriously chewing on that option !

Way too expensive... 17-70 f4 works very well for me.

Do you think the 17-70 glass compliments the IIs, the reviews are somewhat confusing if your talking about the Sigma 17-70, whereas the FA* 28-70 glass semms top shelf that is why I come to this forum for advise & reviews. Have you shot with a K5 and a K5iis using the 17-70 glass ? How much difference? My iis arrives today !

Good morning, Marquis... I traded in my old version of the Sigma 17-70 and, for me, I wasn't that impressed with it. Then, for what seemed like an eternity, I drove myself nuts trying to decide which lens to replace it with: the new Sigma 17-70 Contemporary or the Sigma 17-50. The 17-50, albeit older, was consistently rated higher wherever I seemed to look. And, I looked a lot. You'd probably be fine with either one but, I pulled the trigger on the 17-50 and I think I made the right decision. I read a line in one user's comments regarding the loss of 20mm on the zoom (50 vs 70) and the guy said something to the effect "just walk forward a little and you've made up the difference." Plus, the 17-50 is a constant f/2.8 through the entire range.

The pictures were taken with my Pentax DA 17-70 f4. I see positive difference using it on the K5 iis vs K5.
