K 5IIs Autofocus problem

I'm sorry if there was already a discussion on this point, and i missed it.

Recently i've upgreated to k5IIS from k7, and generally i am very happy with it.

But in my version i have an autofocus problem when there is very contrast background, for example to do this photo i needed to focus manually:

I am not sure but probably smth is wrong. I ungreated firmware but the issue was not resolved.

Does Anyone have the same experience?

I used DA*55 and DA*50-135, AV mode, for both there was the same issue. little bit different scenarios/ but the idea is the same.

Your AF was focussing on the high contrast background. That can be hard to avoid sometimes, especially when you are using all the 11 focus points. I don't think the scene you have presented would have been a problem if you had used the centre focus point, so that the AF was acting on a more limited area, then focussed and composed.

This is not a problem specific to your camera, I think.

Sometimes the scene will present challenges for AF and you may need to take more control. Look at the advice below (from the Nikon D4 manual), for example:

Here's a diagram of the AF "points" in your camera (actually crosses) and their areas of sensitivity.

Large AF points are the problem. Even if you use the single center point to AF (the red cross), it will look for a point of contrast crossing over either the | or the - of the AF point. Place a that large of a + over your scene and you can see why it didn't focus on what you wanted it to, what you wanted to focus on is too small for the size of the AF "point".

Did they were smaller on k7, because i hadn't such an experience with it? Can it depend on object color?
