Who uses a 2nd body?

I often use two bodies out in the woods. A long lens in the holster on my hip, a second body, often the K-01 ( less often a K-5) with the 21 ltd or 40xs around my neck for context and landscape images. As well, If there might be some scenic images, I may have a Sigma DP2 in my back pack.

I started Pentax DSLRs with K-r, and I still have it, but I mostly use the K-01 now. But I think some others already mentioned, they are completely different cameras. The best part is they are both K mount, so they can share lenses. But I use the K-01 for its IQ and size. The K-r when I need "to look pro" (hey, it works) and when I need faster AF and burst mode.
The only thing I miss is the WR, but I dont think it would make sense to spend money on buying a K-30/K-50 just for that. I might update when the K-r fails me or when they release a K-01 successor.
I very rarely carry both cameras, though. Usually only if I invite someone with me and give them one camera. Of course, I don't do any regular paid gigs

I tried putting some Velvia 50 into my *istDL, but I couldn't get the SD card door shut.

I have a k-30 a k-5. I use a short telephoto(18-250 or 24-135) and a long telephoto(135-400 or 170-500) on the second body .

How about THREE? 300 (+TC) on 1st, 50-135 on 2nd, and 16-50 on 3rd. That way I'm ready for most anything I encounter on my trips to Yellowstone.

I have 2 K30s and bought a 2nd hand K5IIs yesterday. The K30 is now my backup camera. DA*16-50 on th K5IIs and DA*50-135/200 on the K30.

I rarely see the need for more than one body. Sometimes when I'm out walking with the only K-5 + 55-300 it would be nice with something wider, but it would have to be small. Maybe a GR would fit. Or preferably something with a viewfinder. Another DSLR is totally out of the question for me. That much extra bulk and weight would mean stuffing the backup in a backpack, and at that point switching lenses is just as fast as switching bodies.

Second body ? Hell. I have done that for 30 years. In the days BD (before digital) I would shoot with Kodachrome 64 in one body and Ektachrome 400 in the other. As I have never sold a body, now I have 7 bodies, maybe 8 if you count the Q! I have 3 film SLRs and 4 DSLRs ranging from *istD through K5. It is rare for me to go out on a trip with less than 2. It is easier to pick up a second body with different lens than to change lenses, it is that simple. Now days I primarily use the K7 and K5, with the K5 attached to a long tele zoom and the K7 on something shorter, when I am hiking, and I use the two bodies with a sigma 10-20 and tamron 28-75 when travelling in cities

It depends on what I'm shooting.

For an ANZAC Day (think Veterans Day) march I'll carry the K-5 and the K-7, one with wide angle or fast prime, the other with the DA* 60-250.

Other times, it's the K-5+zoom and the Q + 01 lens.

I find it interesting the comments about the older cameras and CCD sensor colours. I'll have to try some landscapes with the K-5 vs. my *istD (my daughter has the K100D). Presently, the *istD is normally left in the back of the car or in the motorbike top box as it's not a problem if it gets stolen/lost/damaged.

For an upcoming Euro holiday, I'm now thinking of taking only the Q.
