I have recently returned to the photography fold with a K5ii and looking to do some more serious landscapes. I am looking for a tripod that will be easy to travel with on my motorcycle (folds down to fit into pannier), but want something that will be solid for night photography, or longer exposures.

I don't want to spend $500, and have an old Velbon which has served me well over the years, which I will continue to use, but feel like an upgrade is in order.

Can you make any suggestions?

I purchased my Sirui T-025x from B&H this past month and have used it very happily for product shots on my recent sales. It's very compact and fits readily on my Clik Elite reporters sling belt pack. Given you weigh it down via the center hook, carabiner included, the tripod stays put. Do make sure the leg sections are snug to prevent collapse.

If you do want heftier, but also more expensive, there's the Mefoto Road Trip which I also liked, but deemed to heavy for my constant traveling.

I have 3 Benro tripods I like - I especially appreciate my Travel Angels (one is Carbon, the other not - both are good). They come with nice, soft carrying cases with handles (I use the cases all the time).

Easy to travel with... +1 for the Sirui T-025x. Got mine last month for a week in Rome. Small (12"), light and sturdy; it works a treat and ticks all the boxes.

Yet another for the Sirui. I had a Velbon for years, but NEVER used it. Now I am quite happy to carry the Sirui around.

Not that I could find, but I got it from "ThePhotoGadget.com" for US $209- delivered to the door.
I have used them twice now and find their service very good, I will gladly recommend them.
They were also the best priced.

After much decision making, ended up with the Me Foto RoadtTrip which I think will do the job for me. $189 plus MA tax. I am getting to fiddle with the adjusting screws on the ball head, a new experience for me. With the 100mm macro this weekend it appeared to have some wobble in it, but some of that is operator error I am sure.

It's light, but not too light, very compact for travel, plan to take to Ireland/England with me next month.

I have a Siriu T-005, it's an excellent tripod. No heat enough for my long lenses(over 2 pounds) but quite capable with a shorter lens. We broke one, when it was dropped while extended, but given a good day and some strong epoxy I may yet be able to repair it. The threads where the post screws into the base stripped. It folds down to easily fit in a day pack and is wonderful for getting close to the ground on macros.

So you got a Benro like I did - only yours comes in colors. Same company, different name. I hope you find yours as useful as I have.
