But I wonder at what focal length the GN of 64 is measured at. 105mm? 200mm?
No mention of it on the Metz web site yet, so I can't check.

I think that it will be at GN 64 at 200mm ISO 100... as Metz always used highest focal length. Time will tell us...

Sounds like a joke, but isn't one.

Prior to the age of zoom reflectors, GN was valid for all focal lengths (which in fact ment the widest angle the flash supported). That's making it difficult to compare the power of old flashes to modern flashes (and caused that inflation of guide numbers).

My olden days (but still working fine) Metz 45 CT1 is measured that way - GN 45 at 35mm.
I haven't calculated what that may mean at 105mm or 200mm, but I am sure it would be impressive.

All Mecablitz flash are measured at 105mm (fullframe) and 100 ISO. So for a Pentax DSLR (except 645D and 645Z ) you have the same GN at 70mm
