Easy, tell her the higher the number the more expensive the camera. So you will take the hit and get yourself a K3. Tell her that it has "most" of the same features as the K5 and you usually won't need those features anyway. If you do you will ask to borrow her camera.

I am too, so does my wife! Just makes it harder for me to snow her when I want, rather than need, something.
