Flash Trigger

Does anyone know of a flash trigger that works with the k5? I just got the Yongnuo RF-603 (Version I) and I can get it to work.

Wireless? I use Cactus v5 and they work great. I would get the Cactus v6 (newer) ones now. But the Yongnuo should also work, many here use them.

  • Is your camera's shutter speed below 1/180? Try it in x-sync mode.
  • Do you have the triggers on the same channel?
  • Does the trigger fire the flash when not on the camera? Use the test button.
  • Batteries in the right way?

RF-603C or RF-603N? Only the N (Nikon) version works with Pentax bodies. The C (Canon) version won't work with Pentax because the pins don't match up for it to get a wake up signal.

NPT-04 from Cowboy Studio are basic triggers and works like charm. I never tested the distance but for my purpose around 10-15m was always working. They are also very cheap and I have them for very long time (at least 2 years) and never failed me. Works with any camera with hot shoe or PC sync cable.

Check what Jatrax said... The shutter speed should be bellow 1/180s otherwise will not work.

BTW on Olympus E-PL1 the NPT-4 triggers works past 1/180s but around 1/300 and higher you will see the shutter in the pictures... Wish Pentax did not put limitations on the hot shoe.

I have had good results with the Commlite Comtrig T-320. I hav e also worked with the 603 (Nikon). The reason I ended up with the T-320 is that i passes TTL through to a a flash mounted on the transmitting unit.

Thanks

Thanks for all the great feedback. I just ordered the Nikon version. One note though. The shutter cable from Nikon does not work. I already have the canon one that does.
