Latest firmware for K5?

Hi all I looked up the latest firmware for the K5 on the site, and it claims 1.14, but I noticed I have 1.16 in my 3 year old K5. Is this the latest?

1.16 is the latest. It added support for the 1.4x TC.

Thanks. I typed firmware updates in the search, and one of the results was all updates. Only went to 1.14. That's why I was asking.

I'm still really happy with my K5. Just great camera in almost every respect. It never let me down. Love time exposures, and the K5 makes it easy.

Those are nice images. I have the K-5 and K-5IIS. Though the K-5 still has the AA filter in it, it provides very nice output, and is reliable. It was quite a technological step.

Thanks. I really like the button layout on the K5. It's just a good photographers camera. I was thinking about buying a K3, but I think I'm going to put my money in a set of prime lenses instead.

Already having the K-5 and K5IIS, the choice for me would be the K-3II if I was going to upgrade. The K-5 was a significant and obvious step per its excellent image performance capabilities, and the K-5IIS detail performance is one of the best on the market. The setup layouts and LCD screen on the top of the camera provide an easy access to information and ability to change settings.

You have a reliable performer which produces excellent images with the K-5. Sigma (for Pentax K mount) and Pentax would give you a choice of prime lenses. If you ever get a zoom, the Sigma HSM (silent AF) and Pentax SDM (silent AF) give you a range of choices also.

Love my K-5 also; so much so that I've put the HD20-40 Limited zoom on it; what a great combo. One small point that maybe someone can comment on: as the lens is more recent than the camera and its PDCU4 software (very under-rated, use it a lot), the lens name doesn't show up in the EXIF. Same with DxO Optics Pro 8. Is there an easy fix or do I just live with it? (Not difficult!)

I suppose if you have the most updated firmware on the K-5, version 1.16, that would be providing support as best you could, not that it would necessarily support the data you are likely looking for. If the lens and software are updated or are somewhat recent, and 1.16 does not support the minor amount of EXIF data you are not receiving, at least you are not missing a lot of information.

Currently, the only lenses I have is the kit, the 55-300, and the one that shot all these photos the 18-135.

I had the 55-300, but traded it in. It took nice pictures. When I buy lenses now I look for the silent autofocus feature. I have the Sigma 150-500 OS for Pentax, Sigma 50-500 OS for Pentax, and Pentax 18-55 AL II. After I got my 150-500, I realized how valuable the 500 mm reach can be, especially for birding/wildlife. Both of those Sigmas have HSM (Sigma silent AF), so my focusing does not usually startle the subject I am taking a picture of.

Yes, that's what I love about my 18-135! When I put my 55-300 it's like OMG!

I was looking at the 18-135 (WR) on the Pentax Webstore site. It covers a good amount of range on the short end. The way your images look, it looks like it has a satisfying performance (image quality) in different lighting situations. The clarity, sharpness and color look nice.
