Pentax K5 flickering screen

Hi there,

I got a used K5 a week ago with 10209 shots. Yesterday I had the camera on and pulled the battery grip with AA batteries, I set the camera to prioritise the battery grip. And a rechargable battery that was almost empty.

Did I somehow break my camera? It hasn’t stopped since and makes me nauseated when using it.

Is there any way to fix this and if so where?

What could this issue be?

best regards,

Jack

Sound like you bought a broken camera or grip to me, or the electrical contacts between the two and the batteries need cleaning, assuming you meant full batteries.

Try using a DL-190 battery instead of AA's, initially put it in the camera body, but ideally have one in the body and one in the grip.

If that doesn't work try a factory reset and check if the firmware is fully up to date, there wont have been an update for a number of years, but mine still works perfectly on the latest firmware.

Thanks a lot! I managed to fix it, I put a DL190 in the grip and updated the firmware.

I was on 1.14 and the menus and especially the image viewer were quite laggy. After the firmware and the battery in the grip the flickering had stopped. Seems like it was a software issue, although I will not use the grip with AA batteries again seeing as it’s a non Pentax grip and I’ve heard people have had issues with that.

Sorry to have bothered the lot of you with my almost panic levels of writing.

And thanks for the help again!

Hope you have a grwat week and stay safe out there
