It depends - does anybody die?

Shot another football game this evening. Used the Bigma to get some closeups while light was decent then switched to the Sigma 70-200 f/2.8.

I shot a bike race on Sunday. Fun day and some great scenery but lots of challenging lighting situations!

Spartan Race Beast in Slovakia

I took quite a few shots on this weekend's Spartan Race Beast in Slovakia - click the link to see all photos
All taken with K-5 + Pentax SMC-DA* 50-135mm, and a few with the Pentax SMC DA 10-17mm fisheye

I have shot quite a few sports before, and I took some pictures at my daughter's high school volleyball game last night. The lag time between pressing the shutter and the picture being taken seemed especially long, I found myself very frustrated trying to get the ball in the frame, having to really anticipate ahead of time. This was with a K-5 and Sigma 70-200 2.8 in AF-C mode, a combination which I have used before for basketball. Has anyone else been frustrated by this? Is there some setting that could have been affecting it? I turned shake reduction off early on, but that did not seem to make a difference.

Can't say that I noticed it as a problem. I used my Tamron 70-200.

Have you checked your JPG NR settings? I too have noticed the K-5 responses slower in very low light condition, I always suspect it being caused by the NR process, but I shoot RAW+ so I keep the NR setting on AUTO

I was also wondering if it had something to do with the AF. Jake14mw indicates that he sets his on AFC so I wonder if the constant movements force the camera to keep adjusting focus?
