You've posted some great shots over the past two pages Ron - these are excellent shots again !

However the noise is a little too intrusive for my taste (from cropping ?) so personally I'd happily except a little less detail by smoothing out the noise.
I'm still working on that. These aren't my best performances in presenting. At iso 4000/5000 there is a lot of noice. In this case I shot jpg, but next time I will do RAW again. I also didn't do any noisereduction, since I don't like the smearing. But I'm looking at some way to do it better. On top of that I think I even made it a little more worse buy sharpening.

I will do better in future

Those are nice panningshots. A technic I'm not good at at the time.

Here are a few of mine from last weekends races at HighPlains Raceway in Colorado.

These were taken with the K5 and the DA* 300 at 1/2500 shutter speed. This was my very first time in this corner and I'm liking it a lot. Next time I might look and rent a 200mm f/2.8 and revisit that corner and see if I can get the last little bit of fuzziness out of shots like these.

Oh and these are totally unedited other than cropping of one and resizing for the internet.

Thank you
Jim

Ron, some nice drama in those shots. That's what I like to see in sports shots: raw emotions.

There is a series of games between The Netherlands and Turkey going on and yesterday I visited the first in a serie of 3. The Dutch teamcaptain Manon Flier complained over a descision of the referee.

I'm also going to the two other games. Just a little short in time for working and presenting some pictures now.

Last week there was the European Championship Sitting Volleybal, wich is also on the calendar for the Paralympics. For all finalteams there is a ticket to go to London in 2012.

First game was men's finals between Russia and the winning Bosnia-Herzegovina. With most men's team there was a clear link between the war's of the past descennia's in Europe and having a good team in Sitting Volleybal.

Jppp, nice shots. What are the exposure settings for the shots with the Tamron lens?

Thanks Dan!
The exposure settings are f3.5 1/3200 sec and f2.8 1/4000 sec. Both those matches were played in quite high contrast light with sun already going down in our Northern October afternoon ;D
And I do like to get the action properly frozen.

Edit: Forgot the ISO which was 200 in both cases.
