Nice shots jppp. That Tamron looks pretty sharp.

Cheers, Miikka.
Yes, it's hugely sharper than the Sigma 150-500. So much sharper that I can easily live with its AF, which isn't that bad, either.
And being an Ex Finn, you probaby know our team's name and home city

Thanks Dan!
The exposure settings are f3.5 1/3200 sec and f2.8 1/4000 sec. Both those matches were played in quite high contrast light with sun already going down in our Northern October afternoon ;D
And I do like to get the action properly frozen.

Edit: Forgot the ISO which was 200 in both cases.
That's LV 14, so it was fairly well lit, allowing high shutter speed, but keeping the ISO down.

Junior soccer season is finished here until March-April next year. It will be interesting to see what exposure combination I can use with the new K-5 + DA* 60-250/F4.

Did you have much problem with AF in the match? I've found big problems with the K20D in the past in junior soccer with AF-C, often focusing on the background between players, so I've tended to use f/6.3-f/8 to reduce OOF issues, hence poor background isolation, and requiring the shutter speed in TAv mode to be 1/640s-1/800s. Where you using manual AF activation?

Dan.

I've only shot a couple of matches with the Tamron 70-200 so I need to have some more experience with it before giving out any real opinions about it. The AF isn't that slow (maybe partly due K-5, haven't tried it on my K-7 yet), but it does hunt occasionally. Wether it's a problem or not, is also a matter of attitude. Given the price and IQ I'm willing to be lenient ;D
I will also be testing it with manual focus, mainly because I want to learn to be able to do that in action photography as well. Our football season is almost over, but I may have a chance to shoot a Finnish national league match (the only real Derby in the country) next week in stadium lighting. Tried that once with Sigma 150-500 and wasn't happy with the results.

For sports K5 with DA*300 will not cause disappointment. + pentax AFA/TC smc 1,7x with high ISO capability of K5 makes your glass still workable though the glass becomes 500mm F/6.7

I bought the Tamron 70-200 2.8 to take pictures of my son during his High School swim season. Here are a couple examples of him and his team mates. So far I’ve been very satisfied with both the K-5 and the lens.

Handball: The Netherlands versus Norway, women.

I went to photograph the international game Handball between the Dutch and the Norway team on the way to the worldcup in Brazil later this year.

Wow, what a fast game that is and the women don't stop, they just walk over you.

Hi Ron

That's what I like to see, a Dutch girl always has to look her best, even at sport. I guess then, eye makeup is not against the rules ?

Greetings

Well there where a few 2 minute out penalty's and some freeshots, so not everything is alowed. Didn't find any problems regarding the make-up

Today was the last real derby of the season in Finland and I tried my best to document it with my K5 and Tamron 70-200 f2.8.

It was also the last home game of this bald-headed guy who's ending his career

take a look...

im not sure what Im doing wrong but with glass and spot focus, I should be getting better focus that this right? Oh also i have been using af-c... should i be using focus point = 5?

please help
