Awesome pics of the 1/8th nitro buggies and the SC10! Where are you located?

Small and fast moving objects, K-5 worked flawlessly.
Nah, it's easy with those slow nitro buggies... try the same with XO-1 Supercar

Those NitroCars do look like a lot of fun. I guess that panning with these small cars isn't an option?

Thanks I'm located in PR.

Yes panning is an option, I do use panning usually in races that take place at night, to avoid using high ISO

Panning at night, used FA 50mm, very dark, did not use flash because I did not want to blind/bother drivers

Do you ever use a flash or do you just use natural and event lighting.

I'll be photographing an indoor offroad arena tomorrow except I will be using my flash to freeze motion.

I set the flash on the same siother the track as the driver's stand and point it towards the track and away from the drivers.

Usually natural and event lighting, but will give a shot at using the flash next time, problem I had that day was that the only place I could stand was the section pointing towards the driver's stand. I will probably go to a night race on the 28th.

Looking forward to seeing the pictures!

Near my town in Eindhoven in the national Swimming Stadum there is from 16 - 29 januari the European Championship Waterpolo for men and women. I will attend this tournament every day (didn't see any other Pentax, but there was a Sony next to Canon/Nikon). So some pictures will come here..
Fantastic work!

I will be using a 70-200. The track was just enlarged and will allow even 1/8th scale electric buggies to stretch their legs a bit.

Nice, any issues with lens making a shadow with the flash? since the 70-200 is physically long, also will you be using anything for softening the light? I'm worried about flash bouncing off the bodies, they are very reflective

No issues with the flash. I won't have it on camera anyway. As at as the harshness of the flash, I am going to use the diffuser that was included with my flash. If that doesn't work, next time, I will use a large flash bender to soften the light.

I will post results in a couple of days. Hopefully I am able to get some good shots as you have.

Thanks, it was my first time doing a panning shot, I did make one mistake though, I had the SR on, which I remember after that pentax recommends having it off, luckily the picture came out ok enough. I also shot them with manual focus and had pre-focused on that section of the track, as the FA lens is a bit slow and obviously at night it slows more... so tracking the cars as they move so fast and erratically is a challenge.

IIGQ4U, I'm looking forward to the pics, nice to know someone else shooting R/C with pentax, maybe we can help each other improve and experiment with what works and what doesn't in regards of taking pics of R/Cs
