The face of the girl in the first shoot is priceless! You can see her thinking "Stupid rain" but she still looks extremely determined despite the weather.
Thanks, yes I was very very happy with both games and the results I got home. I'm better on some days then others, but I got a very good week with lots of great shots.

Month contest: Sports

Never looked at it, what is the theme?

Wow it's sports, but there are more great sportsimages overhere. I see that all pictures can be entered and no need for a picture taken this month. So we just have to look for our finest sportsimage

I don't really have anything worth contributing mainly because most of the sport I have shot is indoor basketball with a K-7... the combination of dark gyms and noisy k-7 sensors don't produce competition worthy shots.

not that I think anything I could take would even match your stuff.

Ron, I have made a note to myself. Every time I want to blame my K-5 for limiting my ability in getting great sports shots, I just come back to this thread. Your shots consistently amaze me. The way you can achieve the clarity in your photos combined with the subject isolation is just so tough to do. Bravo.

K-5 can do sports without a doubt and Pentax should really look at this thread and appreciate Ron for his wonderful work with the camera. Will you upgrade to to the K-5 II or K-5 IIs Ron? How many shutter actuation's are are you at now?

Thanks. I'm planning on upgrading one K-5 to a K-5 II(s) but still thinking off wich one. Not yet here as a single body and I don't need a kitlens. I made with my K-5's in two years over 250.000 pictures, but multiple body's. My K-5 Silver is on 118.000 at the time, but still working great.

Are you experiencing any bad calibration of shutter times or something else with the camera after all that work?

Well I'm not shure about that. All images with DA*300mm are made with it, so it still performce well all-in-all. I don't know if it is the lens or the camera, but the performance isn't every day the same, even when I do get great images on all games. There are some issues with the AF-system, since it does some resetting from time to time, then all 11 AF point light up and then it goes back to normal function. I think this is since around 80k on the shutter. I do wonder if I can go all the way toward 200k actuations? I do have more work in the planning until the end of may with about 40 soccergames, 10 fieldhockey and then some indoor sports (but for those lot's off work for the second black camera).

K-5 at United States Grand Prix

Actually, this was during first practice Friday just past the main grandstands. Intentionally kept the shutter "slow" to get motion blur on the 270km car.
Do you have any idea how hard it is to catch one of these puppies in between the fenceposts?

K-5, SMC DA 50-135 @75mm 1/500 f4.5 Very slight crop.

Awesome.
So your standard event shooting setup is Silver body with DA* 300, Black body with Sigma 70-200, plus monopod on one?

I looked photo on the all 69 pages from this long thread.
and I see that best shots were made by FA* 85, DA* 300 and sometimes by DA* 50-135, DA* 60-250. But I guess last 2 lenses just are slow for sports.

regards to Sigma 70-200 I not like shots from it

so, all pentaxians will wait zoom lenses with high speed AF and high IQ images for quick actions like sport.

Which one of the Sigma? They are all very different. I don't see what's wrong with my HSM II.
