Probably coming in the womenssoccermagazine in june. The magazine is new, second edition and the first edition in shops for purchase for 4,95 euro. In there is one image on a whole page that I made:

With hurdles, I prefer to shoot on an angle. Here are 3 shots from an U11 Boys 70m hurdles race. There were only 3 hurdlers in this heat.

1/640s, f/5.6, ISO80 with a Sigmal 70-200/F2.8 at 200mm FL

Cropping was a bit tighter than I liked, but I wanted to reduce the busy surroundings more. Normally I try to include at least part of each leading hurdle to assist determining distance, but I have not done this in the last shot.

I shot a dress rehearsal for a dance recital tonight. Not sure if it qualifies as sports, but it did seem pretty sporty.

Hey all, New to this group and just picked up the sigma 70-200 2.8. Enjoying it so far. Looking forward to trying to for my daughters dance performance next week. Hope my shots come out as well as Matts. Here is my favorite shot so far from this years baseball season.

A very difficult shot Matt & Ron but captured dramatically. Little or no motion blur too. But I thought the Tamron 28-75 f2.8 was a very sharp lens, at least mine is brutally sharp. And the WB is true to its nature, even though the stage area seems to be under some kind of near Tungsten lighting.
I appreciate that much of the sharpness is lost in re-sizing the photo. I wish I could have read the EXIF data.
I bought the Tammy brand new from B&H for $ 457 last August, in advance for a FF Pentax DSLR.
Regards.

I had a very disappointing outing with my K-5 & 50-135 at my kids field hockey game last weekend. Focus was very slow, and worse, when it grabbed focus it was often locking onto the background rather than the players on the field. I got a few good shots but my in focus hit rate was low, maybe 30%? There were a lot of potential good shots lost through focus problems.

So I’m pricing up a better faster sports lens; say the DA60-250 or a Sigma 70-200 HSM, so ~$1400 give or take.

Then I got thinking….

I priced up a grey Canon 7D ($890) + a 70-200 f/4 ($580) and found the total cost was about the same as just the Pentax lens. Difference is the 7D has great AF and the 70-200/4 has fast USM AF. I know the sensor in the 7D isn’t very good, but for pure sports it’s got me thinking, why buy and expensive lens when I can get better AF-C, faster lock and hit rate, all with a sharp FF compatible 70-200 lens?

Weather sealing is one reason to get the 60-250. I'd kind of like one myself. But it is pricy and not as fast as I'd prefer for darker situations.
