OK, working on the post count. I like the idea of not having to learn new button positions.

If the K-5 @6400iso looks as good as the K-7 @800iso then I will get the K-5.

I like that it's actually lighter (10g) than my K-7!

Looks like a sweet camera to me. The K7 didn't quite tempt me to move on from my K20D. I like high ISO, and the K5 looks like it beats the K20 handily. Smaller size will be nice since I've been going more with the DA Ltds. Not a huge fan of the extra resolution, but I'll take it if it doesn't come at the expense of more noise. All in all, the K5 and Kr seem like a fantastic duo, and when the 645D comes to town, Pentax will have a very nice line up for a small camera company.

This was enough of a jump up in camera specs for me. I've been happy with my K10d, but I'm thinking after the K5 has matured a bit, there will be one in my bag. I've fondled the K7 at the store a few times liking the feel of it.

Bringing back (kind of) the AEB button on the outside is what I was hoping for! By early next year, my K20D might be sitting on the porch telling my K-x stories of "back when I was in the camera bag..."

My first post! Hi folks. Well here's one new convert to the third way. I didn't know very much about Pentax so long ago, but then I was exploring the possibilities of manual lenses and discovered the utter joy of old Takumar glass. This lead me onto exploring what DSLR options Pentax had to offer. I tried out a K7 in my (last) local independent camera shop, and was absolutely blown away by the exquisite ergonomics and all round quality of the camera. It was only the low light performance that stopped me taking the plunge. Living in Scotland you're shooting in low light most of the time! The K5 answers all my wishes and so much more besides. I looks like an absolutely superb camera. The ridiculous giant size of the Canikon equivalents is a total deal breaker for me. I want a carry everywhere camera that can meet a real range of difficult challenges in terms of both lighting and climate. It always rains in Glasgow! The K5 is the perfect camera for me in every respect, support for legacy glass, durable, small - an amazing combination. Oh, and beautiful as well.

Say hello to a brand new Pentaxian, and I'm sure I won't be the only one.

Welcome lexurian. (For some reason I think of "Lux Interior" when I read your screen name - but that might an obscure reference these days)

I also forgot to mention that the new live-view (and hopefully video) AF seems to kick butt as well.

Same here for k-5, but i do think there are some true typos, as the original specs i got from dpreview.com said "40 Best Images at 7FPS'" which is what K-7 was if i'm not mistaken. And that's a whole lot better then the 22 that is mentioned. Even the Pentaximaging.com website mentions 40 Best Images.
Geez i have never seen such confusion from one Mfr.

Hi there! - Don't all be saying hi now - kinda monotonous no? Just really meant to say that the K5, on specs alone, is definitely capable of converting new users - Cheerio Nikon!
