I shoot mine with the K20d at ISO 200 f8.0 at about 1/200-1/250 normally. Works fine

Try that in the early morning, or an hour before twilight. It ain't going to happen.

Sunny F 16 rule says you are one stop off direct bright sunlight. Those are not the conditions I shoot under.

Please don't try to conform everyone to the way or subjects you shoot. My statement was based on the subjects and conditions I shoot under. ISO 200 at F8 would put my shutter speeds somewhere around 1/30 to 1/15. ISO 800 puts them between 1/60 and 1/125. 1600 puts them around 1/200 1/250 at best at F8. My lens, is sharpest at F 10, not F 8. I've spent considerable time testing this lens, and I know what I need to get the most out of it.

I, too, join the club and waiting for the K-5 will be on sale.
It would be nice to spread links to the addresses of shops that had the option price and the possibility of international shipments

Could those more familiar with both bodies confirm something for me pls: will the K-5 be 100% compatible with all K-7 accessories, specifically the K-7 lithium battery and battery grip?

If yes, that will be very good and will make assembling a K-5 system a tad more economical. Things like the K-7 battery grip seem to have come down a lot in price over the last year, and I think there are even 3rd party ones about too.

After dropping all my K10 gear earlier this year, I thought I was going to be defecting to the MFT camp when the GH2 hit; but the more I see the K-5, the more I can't bring myself to do it. I just wish there was more K-5 material out on the web (withholds Pentax marketing comments) it's sad when you compare the amount of info between the two cameras that is available (seeing as how the GH2 is hitting at least a full month later). Please Pentax, fuel my addiction! (and curiosity)

I have to say though, it's looking more and more like I'll be joining the club

(if you are wondering why the odd pairing, full VDLSR / DSMC functionality matters to me)

I have a feeling that 18-135 is going to be a good lens.

Should mention that it wasn't a kit. As far as I know, there is no 18-135 kit in the US at launch.
