The Pentax K-5 Club

I preordered my K-5 the other day, I will be upgrading from a K20D that I had for a little over 2 years. I also have the K-X but never realy liked it due to lack of controlls, it will be passed over to my gf that might find it usefull

So I tought we could have a thread where we talk about our experience with the camera, post pictures, discuss settings etc etc

Lets keep this a civilized, friendly and happy place

I'll likely join the K5 club when they announce the K3 and everyone is scrambling to sell their K5's .

Looks like one hell of a camera, a real worth upgrade to my k20d.

No doubt this is going to be a good thread.
What I would like to see when it really gets going are:

1. AF tests in "real life" situations, both AF.S and AF.C on moving subjects especially on moving subjects toward the camera.
2. "high" ISO images from 1250 and up; not just on static subjects but also during "busy" scenes ... people, streets, etc ...

I hope you people will grant us the pleasure to see such images soon.
I will gladly join in when I get my K5 ... maybe next Spring.

Cheers and best of luck on this thread.

JP

I would join, but I'm far to chicken to be a martyr
No to mention I won't be in any financial position to upgrade until spring.

Buying a new one now. If it's good, I might just buy another one next year when the price will probably be far less, lol.

If I'm first I promise to set the bar low so everyone else can soar over my standard

I'll join that club!! I've been shooting with my K10 for 4 years now. And although I really l love that camera and learned SO much by reading the manual (4 times to be exact) and shooting almost every day the last 4 years, I'm very ready for an upgrade. I have the money all saved up and set aside for my K-5 and will probably wait to order it once it's officially out and ready to ship

Oh...and JohnBee....I read your signature wrong at first and thought it said reasons why I will NOT be buying the K-5. I was confused for a minute

Ahh! You're killing me! Four feet of snow and blistering winds! You never get used to it.

Hope you get it soon!

I pre-ordered the K-5 today (1100 euro).

I'm upgrading from K10D and expect to get better ISO-performance and autofocus mainly. But also I'll get some handy functions like AF-correction per lens, higher fps, better DR, 14bit RAW, video-mode.

It will be a killer-combo together with my DA* lens that are on repair for the moment, because of faulty SDM. To replace the SDM-motor cost me 150 euro including return shipping.

Ask me again when the K-5 w/18-135 WR kit is available in the US and reviews are in.

In other words, I'll fill out the membership form but I'm not quite ready to mail in the dues!
