London Drugs in Coquitlam Centre matched Gastown's $1,199 price without much fuss; just ask for it (Mike was the name of the sales associate I talked to).

Any London Drugs matches the price of the concurrence, but I prefer to go to the local store one who initiated the lowest price. Because if you were not able to find a cheapest store around them, London would make you pay the normal price.
If they are only able to match the price and not to do cheaper, I don't see why I should give them the money because they are not making any special effort: I prefer the little local store to get my money.

Yeah, Mike is a good guy...I believe he is the assistant manager. I bought my K-5 at Gastown last week from Jack but I normally get stuff price-matched at the London Drugs in Coquitlam Centre...(that is if I am not buying from B&H).

London drugs in Saskatchewan won't match Gastown's price of $1,199.99 because they don't ship. If they did ship, London Drugs would add the cost of shipping to the price. Still waiting to hear from Don's Photo, but I doubt they'll match it either.

I tried Lozeau.com, but their price is higher ($1,329).

CameraCanada has it on for $1,259.97.

Prodigital on ebay has it for $1199 US, which converts to a little less in Canadian dollars. Comes with full 2 year, canadian pentax warranty.

Lozeau is the largest Camera store in Quebec . They claim that Pentax is their third best selling brand now in DSLR before Sony or Olympus

That could be because they are one of the few stores in Québec actually keeping Pentax in stock. Their prices, however, are very seldom they cheapest.

What I usually do is indicate that "I'm travelling to Vancouver next week and I see that Gastown has the camera on for $x.00. While I'd prefer to support the local dealers, why wouldn't I just pick one up while in Vancouver?" They've matched every time...

I agree with Pentaxor, if only the lens prices weren't so out of line. At least the Marketplace helps.

Aden camera has the body only for $1199, located in Toronto. Not a bad price, especially for out of province purchases.

I bought one (K5) a couple weeks ago - McBain Camera matched the online price of Camera Canada ($1200) at the time they just added the $25.00 shipping.

I know before they would not match it (claimed it was an online store although Camera Canada has a physical store as well - so I bought my Bigma from camera canada) - but this time there was no worries. They matched the K5, battery grip and extra battery price - saved me a couple hundred dollars easyily.

I'm not sure if it's already almost a year since the K-5 was released. but it looks like it's value has held pretty good compared to any of Pentax's previous dslrs.

Camtec photo in Montreal has it for 1175$ and, unlike Lozeau, they actually have a few limited lenses to try in store.

Lozeau in Montréal has the K-5 (body only) at 999.99$ during their "Salon D-Clic" expo/trade show this coming weekend. That price appears to be valid on the showroom floor only.

Note that you have to pay at least 12$ to get into the show, but that there is also a coupon for an "additionnal 20$ off any invoice over 300$" in the newspaper flyer for the show...
