Price of K5 in Canada.

Thank you, I'm just hoping it'll be a reliable tool like the K7 and K-x were ... we'll have to wait and see.
Can't wait to try out some of my "brighter" primes on it at iso 12xxx or so for some night shooting, either

Bobmaxja, on the flyer, it is showing the silver version of k-5 for 999... plus the Elements 10, that would be really really nice

Picked mine up up at Henrey's during the photo show a couple of weeks ago for $1149 with the WR kit lens. So glad they finally dropped the price. It's a nice upgrade from the KX.

I got the same deal through Henry's. I didn't need the 18-55 WR lens, but at that price I couldn't refuse! Body alone was $999. Now I have a lens for rough shooting.

I finally bite the bullet last night and picked up a K5 body at the Camera Store (Calgary) for $1078. They are currently the cheapest I've seen in Canada and even cheaper than the big box stores in the US.

If your in Calgary I also suggest Saneal camera along with The Camera Store.. Viskek is there too.. they will price match, but on average they are more expensive.
And I wouldn't support a store trying to squeeze the extra dollars out of my pocket by only dropping to "price match"

When I purchased my K-5, being in eastern BC, I was ready to drive to Calgary and pick it up with the 18-135WR. Saneal Camera was great to deal with. Back then they were actually a few dollars cheaper than The Camera Store, and were willing to put a K-5 + lens aside for a week until I could get over there. I had a local store price match and I ordered and waited (a long time it seemed).. so I cancelled through them. I wanted local support just in case anything went wrong (sensor stains were my main concern), but everything has been great.

Unless you have another WR lens, on rainy days you will be glad you have it! I love my 18-135 for rainy days, but I often wonder if the 18-55 WR has better IQ.. sure the range is nice and all.. but I think I could get by with the 18-135..regret purchasing it at it's full price when it was the new model ($650) since it's dropped a little over $100 in under a year.

Interesting. I called LD in Edmonton tonight asking if they might be going on sale before Christmas. I was told maybe later in the month. I'll keep on them. Thanks for the heads up...

There is also a slight price drop from Prodigital2k as well but for the weekend only. I think the price drop below 1k did move some stock in the past month or so. Hopefully, they will try to do that again soon for the holiday season.
