I've never bought an extended warranty in my life but felt the $169 for 5 years at henrys was reasonable.

Lozeau is very aggressive on pricing, they were the cheapest last christmas too.
Eddie, I bought mine from McBain earlier for a slightly higher price than Lozeau (but same as Henrys) except that with tax and shipping included it is cheaper (waived shipping and pst). So, I am very happy....

That is a pretty good price for 5-year warranty... is that warranty by Henrys?

I was wondering the same thing. Pentax Canada provides a 2-yr warranty, so is the Henry's warranty 2+3 years, or 2+5 years?

I asked McBain if they do offer extended warranty on top of the 2-year deal... they do... but since I purchased the camera with my VISA which carries one-year extended warranty... I finally decided that it is good enough already. With the usage pattern I have, I will likely run that up to 65-75k actuation count. By that time, I will probably be looking for a replacement anyway.

I think that with Henry's, they sell the 3 year warranty which is added to the 2 year Pentax giving you 5 years. Not a bad deal, and I think that it's one of the better warranties out there. Certainly they are more upfront about what it covers and doesn't cover.

I had a sales droid at Best Buy try to convince me a number of years ago that the Manufacturer's warranty WOULDN'T cover the LCD screen in the first year on a Panasonic advanced P & S if it went wrong, but the Best Buy extended warranty would. I left there rapidly and went to Henrys where they informed me that of course the manufacturer would cover the LCD unless of course I put a nail through it or something like that.

The nice thing at Henry's is that if you trade up within the first year on their half back program (should the new Pentax FF show up, and NO I haven't heard anything about that!!!) they will allow you the full credit on the warranty towards the new camera.

That's nice... an option to trade up and roll the warranty over.

Another interesting question here as in jazzcat's case, if he/she had paid with VISA (1-yr extended warranty), would it make this 6-year warranty? That is real cool..

One of the things that appealed to me about the extended warranty is that I would always be dealing with henrys. By dropping it off in the store, they assume responsibility for it and the onus to return it to operating standard is on them. Mind you, I'm curious to hear real cases and how comprehensive the warranty is in actual fact.

I thought the same thing. Time to call A/x and find out. Now that would be the mother-of-all-warranties indeed.

If the warranty is transferable, that would be really icing on the cake.

Your k-5 is worth a lot more than mine.... go figure.

I used Lozeau for price protection at Henry's when I bought my first K-5. They seem to always have the best prices and free shipping too.

Easy to resist if you think of what can be coming down the pipe in the next year to two years.. your next step up could be a big difference instead of a small step.
