Price of K5 in Canada.

Got mine from The Camera store.

$1,573.35 shipped free to Quebec.

Also came with some kind of DVD. No idea what it is...

I dont know were you are in Québec but got price for $1420 +taxes from a Pentax dealer in Montreal who is part of Photo source. I suppose yours include taxe but really the price is very close.
I will prefer buying around here for few $ difference this time

Whoa! How is it possible that the K5 is selling for less in Canada than in the U.S. The latest Adorama price is $1599 - 14748 Pentax K-5 Digital SLR Camera Body, 16.3MP CMOS Sensor, 1080p HD Video at 25 FPS, 3 inch LCD, Black - OR $1799 with lens.

At that price, the K5 is simply not worth it.

I was hoping to take advantage of a lower price in the U.S. when I travel there for the holidays but thus far, the price of this camera is far too high.

Nice price ... ! at Tanguay Electronics (A.K.A.: Tanguay Furniture and ...)

Went to the store today, this is where I bought my K10D, K20D and K7.
They have a NO TAXES sales until this Sunday.
Price is $1599.00 Cdn with NO TAX! This works out to approximately $1410.00 Cdn if you were to pay the taxes here.

They do have such sales throughout the year ( no sales taxes), usually 4or 5 of them.
I suppose that I could wait until the next "no-tax sale" during the Spring and perhaps get an even better deal, expecting the price to go down by at least $100.00 or so.

Anyway, for those who really want one now, they can order it and as long as you make a down payment to confirm the order, they will let you have it for this "no tax" price. Takes a couple of days for shipment, usually.

No, I am not involved with that store other than as a client, nor do I get kickbacks from them.

I was not aware Tanguay Brault& Martineau sell Camera
But for $10 difference ' I will by it for a Camera store Thanks anyway .

Tanguay is not B & M.
But I get your point: buy from a camera store; and if I had the choice, that's what I would do.
However, here we have one "camera" store (sort of the same as Tanguay but with someone in there knowing her stuff) selling Nikon and that's about it.

Just curious - when did you order your K-5 from TheCameraStore.com? I ordered on Oct 22. Order was updated on Oct 25 to "on order". No news since.

As for your DVD, they are including..."Instructional DVD free with the purchase of a Pentax K-m". Maybe they sent you one of those by mistake?

"The Camera Store" in Calgary quoted me 1498. + tax with no shipping. I paid 1599+ tax at London drugs. They will price match for the next 30 days so keep up the updates for me.

Stopped in at the Richmond, BC, Kerrisdale Cameras the other day and enquired about the K-5 availability. He said it should be arriving in the stores in a couple of weeks.

Thanks for that info. Their website indicates 'Backorder', but I realize that online content isn't always current. I have sent them an email. Will do the follow-up by phone.

I bought my K-X this year from Newegg.ca, the price you see is the price you pay. But international warranty(1 year) not 2 years if bought from an authaurized pentax Canada Dealer
