Price of K5 in Canada.

Hi Everyone.
I Spoke to a retailer in Montreal today ( Simon's Cameras ) and was told the K 5 will sell for $1399.00 cdn. I bought my k7 there and I think it was about $100.00 cheaper than on the West Coast.
Cheers.

Which store in Victoria?

If it's London Drugs, well I'm not surprised.

I actually had to email and ask them to add the K-5, and they did. The person who replied to my email said that Pentax was not that popular but he added it anyway. If anyone finds a lower price ask them to add the price, there is a spot add the bottom of the page to add the url. Could be a good spot to keep an eye on the price for people on both sides of the border.

Cheers

Lens and Shutter and Kerrisdale...... Ironically, Lens and Shutter had the cheapest price anywhere for the K-7, but then jacked the price up shortly after I pre-ordered..... This time they are the average price.....

Henry's seems to be claiming $1600 body only, $1780 with 18-55 WR, $2150 with 18-135 WR.

Vistek has the same body only price, and Aden and Downtown Camera don't have a price listed yet.

Henry seem to be all the time too expensive on almost all cameras
Choose a differeent camera from the site and you will see they are on average between $100-250 more than other Canadian dealer on their day to day price.
See example on the Nkon D300
Nikon D300s - Canada and Cross-Border Price Comparison - photoprice.ca
On the Nikon D7000 the difference is greater than$30 versus The Camera Store or Simon

I lament the fact that the two big box boys in Canada (which are the same company, you all know who I mean) dropped Pentax- it was a great competitive price driver when they stocked Pentax. I purchased my K100DS from Future Shop at the lowest price on the market at the time ($599.00 w/kit lens). Maybe they'll take notice again since the K5 is making waves and the K-x (K-r to replace) is/should be great sellers? I was surprised they weren't carrying the K-x in all its many colors!

Just checked- Best Buy USA is selling K-x and K-7: K-7 body only. Wow, this is totally a case of "not a big enough market" in Canada- I realllly hate marketing.

Here in Singapore the launch price would most likely be the same as K7 when it was launched last year.

L.L. Lozeau in Montréal is listing the K-5 at 1599.99CDN$ (+ taxes) body only in their latest flyer. I suspect this is the actual MSRP, as Lozeau is very seldom a price leader.

Interestingly. they also list the 645D at 9999.99CDN$ in the same flyer, with the DA*645 55mm at 1499.99$CDN.

My local shop has yet to list a price for the K-5.

Yeah, I know. What I'm trying to say is that you might also be able to have the new K5 at the same price as K7 when it was launched last year

Totally agreed with Henry's prices being the most expensive.

The good thing about Henry's is that you can have a "half-back" deal: you buy the camera there and they guaranty to buy it back at at least half the original price if you buy another camera there.
Of course, you wouldn't do that within a short period after having made the purchase ... you'd lose too much!
