Thanks for the heads up. (I've been checking the LD site, and no changes.) Today may be the day!!!
The London Drugs flyer has the K5 for $999 but not the website.

Indeed they do, as of today I'm told! This might be a whole new thread but...now I've got to decide whether I want to go with a trade in (which I believe McBains would do) or sell my 10D privately. (I'll check the forum selling area to get a clue as to their value.)
thx

Yep, local London Drugs just dropped their one remaining K-5 to $999.99. Argh......must resist.

Yes, I handled the camera at a local London Drugs in Vancouver. I was surprised that in many ways it felt as good as my K20D. I actually didn't noticed the size or weight difference; I had thought the smaller size would be an issue for me. I had never bothered to look at the K-7 because, to me, it was simply the K20D in a new package with a few unimportant add-ons.

To be honest, the only physic difference that struck me was the display screen. It is so much bigger and sharper!

In use, one of the first differences I immediately noticed was the QUIET shutter! You can barely tell the shutter triggered! I hate to say this but I did not notice a striking difference in focus speed over the K20D *BUT* I was not in ideal conditions and I did not 'play' with the camera enough to form a worthwhile opinion.

It is hard to explain but the camera felt a bit 'stiffer' than my K20D. I think it might be a familiarity thing? It just seemed that the buttons and dials were tighter but not in a good/productive way. I need to spend a little more time with this camera so please don't pay too much attention to this last comment.
I sold my K20 before buying the K5 and it took a while to get used to the K-5. It's not that there was anything wrong with the K-5 but I think the ergonomics of the K20 are really hard to beat. I'm used to the K-5 now and certainly enjoy it more than my K20 because of the focus speed and the high ISO performance. I just finished a sunset shot hand held in minus 18C weather and I couldn't have done that with my K20.

I'd like to know what that's about too. I put the K-5 in my shopping cart and didn't see any deal on HST.

for 999, without any HST, I would get one and sell my K-7.

GST only in Alberta.

We just voted to scrap the HST in BC, but the combined GST/PST will still be 12%. And consumers think they were going to save money...

We will save money, the HST sent a lot more money back to ottawa instead of keeping it in BC for our provicial gov't to squander.. ... yay Liberals... ... ...

Well technically, if you were to buy in alberta you'd still have to pay the HST.. unless you drove there and picked it up and paid on the spot (that's what Calgary trips are great for! only 4 hours for me!). But I bought the K-5 in February.. so just need good deals on glass now!

Sad but true....... It is cheaper to order from B&H and pay the Purolater+ customs + HST than to buy at london drugs

Why wouldn't you just order from the London Drugs website at $999?
