Just called up C R Kennedy AU, well looks like it will be arriving late November and bundle with 18-135 WR only for around AUD$2400 for the 1st batch of shipment, but there will be no body only option for the 1st batch and they don't have the RRP for that just yet....

Camera-warehouse.com.au has K-5 w/ 18-135 WR listed as $2299.00 so I called them up as well, they basically told me that the release date is in early November(I doubt) and body only will have to wait till just before xmas...oh well....

Once again CR Kennedy gouging Australian consumers by forcing us to wait until the 18-135 is released and buy as a kit. Looks like another US purchase (body only in a week or two) and pay the duty I suppose.

I hope Vanbar stick with selling a body only option.

It's simply stupid to force a lens + body kit on consumers, especially when many/most K-5 buyers will be Pentax DSLR upgraders who probably already have a few Pentax lenses around.

Updated: dirtcheapcameras are showing the following K-5 options: body only, 17-70. 18-135WR, 18-55WR, and 55.1.4 kits.

IMHO K-5 should be aiming at current K10D/K20D users looking to upgrade instead of attracting new users...in which case body only option will be at lot more attractive....

To be fair, the rep at CR Kennedy told me it's because they weren't given a lot of option from Pentax Japan for the 1st batch shipment, so I can't say CR Kennedy is to blame on this one...

I'm having a really hard time holding off until the Silver model of the K-5...which I will go on record (just a guess) that it will be called the K-5 SE (since they have used up Titan, Silver, Grand Prix, Super).

maye bcause of the relative low number of people interested in buying the K-5 in US, they won't ship as much to US , and have to calculate shipping as well.
All these " wont buy because too expensive "did that...

Not so stupid as the 18-135 is something quite new and the only sealed allround zoomlens out there in the Big World. To me (and many) this lens is a worthwhile addition to the line up, worthwhile getting so might as well add the K-5.

I'm in Japan now, and I can confirm K5 debut date is 15/10. Maybe I'll goto Pentax Forum and ask them whether I can get it on the 14th :P since I'm leaving Japan on the 15th.

K-r on another hand, is available for sale now. I've played with them in multiple big camera stores in Tokyo. If I have time, maybe I'll try and shot a few raw imaged in my SD card to share with you guys.
