Yep, D7000 is $300 cheaper than K-5 in every store here.
In Finland the price difference is only 10 euros. I can say the is the same for K-5 and for D7000 here.

Today I called Pentax Web Store and they confirmed the K-5 will be available online tomorrow at their website, I don't know about other online retailers like B&H, Adorama, J&R or Amazon, probably they will get it as well, I will assume has to be the same distributor for all of them.
I dont know why. but this did not happen. I checked with Adorama, they dont have any further info either.

The one shop I checked in The Netherlands has 1199 euro for the K-5 body and 1189 euro for the D7000 body.

Keeping my fingers crossed but I'll likely get to unbox my K-5 in 7 days time.

Just out of interest...the D90 was assembled in Thailand, does anyone know where the D7000 will be assembled?

On the Pentax side, I am assuming the K-5 will be assembled in the Philippines, like every other Pentax body.

www.emjay.com
They've got the body only listed for $150 !?!

http://www.emjay.com.sg/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage_...hk=1&Itemid=69

Can't see how they'll make any money that way...

edit - just realised that's their pre-order deposit amount - not very clear on the website.

Thailand... I believe only the Nikon FX-format cameras are made in Japan.

Well the new cameras are expected to be delivered early next week where I am with the K-5 launch price expected to be slightly lower or around the price of the K-7 when it was first introduced.

K-5 and 18-135

same store now also lists K-5 + 18-135 for € 1849,00.
That would mean + € 650, 00 for the lens. I must admit that si a bit more than I expected , based on lens only price and the price some others offer for body + lens as opposed to body only (for instance Tekade.de, € 1449,00 body only and € 1949,00 for body + kit). With such a low body price, one could probably not seriously expect the same low lens price but I did suspect a body+lens for about 1749,00-1799,00

Oh well, at the current exchange rates K-5 is €1328 (with 1 year warranty) and D7000 is €1094 (with 3 year warranty) here. I'm curious what the prices will be in December.

I like to buy the first of the model line - *IstD, K10, K7. I *really* want the K5, but at the price they are asking, I don't see the features as that much better than a K7. Granted, 1080p and the better SAFOX is tempting, but the price point is out of line for what is essentially an upgraded K7.

If I could get a good price for my K7, then I will pull the trigger.

Of course it's an upgraded K7 ! Most new models of all brands are just that - upgrades.

However new much faster AF and new very high ISO plus a few other nice extras mean this is much improved K7 and will be replacing mine ASAFP (as soon as finances permit).
