K5 AF speed...anyone ever compared 645D and Canon 7d?

There are several threads right now comparing what k5 AF performance could be compared to the Canon 7D system, and other systems.

It occurs to me that SAFOX IX is being used in 645D...why hasnt there been any discussion in regards to the speed of 645D vs 7D? (besides the obvious reason that most people dont have 645D)

Are there any who has experienced both?

I don't think it would be much of a comparison. Even if the K5 has a much better AF system than the K7 did, it still won't be as good as the 7D.

But the 7D and 645D are just two completely two different beasts, they shouldn't really even be compared.

The K-5 has the exact same AF system as the 645D. Therefore, ignoring differences in SDM/screwdrive response speed, the AF system should be equally fast.

If you want to see how fast it is, compare it with the same lenses. Like a Sigma 70-200 HSM, that is very fast lens.

There aren't any K5 "real" tests out there yet, so I imagine that one should wait at least until they are available.
That goes for the 645D as well.

PF is supposed to have something for us soon in that department.
Until then, no use trying to compare the cameras, especially not comparing the K5 against the 7D ... apples and oranges.

I went to Pentax Square in Shinjuku today, and I can tell you that K5 with 18-135mm focuses faster than the 645D with 55mm SDM lens. Actually i find K5 focuses really fast with the new 18-135 at 135mm. The lighting level in that place is quite good, but at 135mm f5.6, K5 requires ISO 3200, 1/125s to aquire correct exposure.

I will let the other pros to determine whats the lighting level with such setting.

I've tested K-r too, and the focus with 18-55mm kit lens seems as energetic to me.
