I think we non Americans should speak with a bit more respect about the damages caused by currency fluctuations. After all, it's with a big random factor and controlled by the wrong people.

am I correct in thinking that updating the firmware updates all of the updates that have been made? As opposed to you choosing which update you want?
Yes. Just update to the latest release and you're done. It's easier than it appears to be.

by software fixes, is that the same as firmware updates? and if so, what is involved with updating firmware?

With my K10, I am unable to trigger my flash off camera but was told if I downloaded firmware I could...but I have no clue how to do that, so never did. Where would I go to do that or read up on how it's done?
The quote you attributed to me, isn't mine but to answer your question, I'm certain wireless flash was turned on by firmware v1.20. You can grab it here.

Downloads

Version 1.3 turns on SDM so if you don't have any or want to continue using them as screw drive lenses, stick with 1.2. That one turns on everything including Tethering.

this feels like one of those times when one is reminded that the idea of free speech carries a heavy price, and serves to remind each of us what a heavy price we have paid and keep paying for that right.

That video is hilarious. Especially the part about him being upset that he can't be the first to make an unboxing video.

D7000 seems to have beaten the K-5 into people's hands. It's already out at some Best Buy's and unboxing vids are already popping up on Youtube.

Yes.

And I fear that many of us don't entirely understand how painful that video is in part, regardless of the humor, for others on the forum. A price for free speech, indeed.

+1........ whilst i have always enjoyed parodies of the third reich, ala, springtime for hitler, the three stooges, charlie chaplin, et al (many, many more)...
.... this video does not accurately capture / demonstrate the comedic interpretation some thought it would... and, in a personal note, as one whose family was directly impacted by those depicted, we will never forget, never....
and this video, imho, misses the mark, badly......

Not exactly as these videos always disappear after short notice because of a copyright infringement.

If it hurts or not. I think we settled this already with a Jewish member of the forum. The parody is unfortunate but not as bad as one may think because we see the evil doer suffer. It's better than the alternative: to forget him or what the Germans of that time did.

Anybody wanting to reflect this topic, I recommend a read of a NYT article about the issue: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/26/magazine/26wwln-medium-t.html?_r=1
The general consensus seems to be that the parodies are not such a bad thing after all.

BTW, the original movie Downfall is a recommended view.

Back on topic ...

Foto Koch in Germany sells the K-5 with Tamron 18-200 lens for 1299,- € which includes 19% VAT.

Probably just an error but whoever is fast in ordering ...

The lens is worth about 150€, so this translates to 966.- € w/o VAT body only.
