Oh man, how long will I be able to hold out buying this to replace my K10D?

Also, is that lenshood on the DA35 for sale new somewhere? My girlfriend wants to buy this lens, but as it comes without a hood out of the box, we'd need to find one, and this one looks rather smart.

It's a 49mm filter thread on that lens. eBay, dealextreme etc will have lots of hood options for it. Alas old steel hoods like that cool Hoya one will probably be hard to come by.

Impressed with the pictures....the shots of the man at 3200...even 6400 are excellent. Also heartened by your comment about the fast....no hesitating auto focus of the K5 in low light.

BTW...are your buddies in the pictures, also photographers and if so are they Pentaxians or Canonite or Nikonians ? What do they think of the K5's performance.

ISO1600 in RAW is the limit for good photos. IMO
But I see IQ degradation at ISO800 - NR traces...

And I see DA35/2.4 has better bokeh that FA35/2 wide-opened.

As for noise - K-r / K-x is better than K-5 IMO. K-5 has lower noise than K-7, but it seems it has hard NR.

What is the camera strap you show on the camera; that's not the normal Pentax strap. Is it a new version that Pentax is including with the K5 or did you get it at some special event?

Also, can you check on the number of RAW and JPEG images in a burst (ideally both at HI and LOW) settings. That is, when you have a chance; I'd have a hard time putting a camera like this down to run tests...

Thanks for sharing. Indeed K-5 has IS0 6400 usable whereas K-7 stops at below ISO 3200 (may be 3200 with some processing). I wouldn't use ISO 25600 and above on K-5. So technology keeps advancing. I am fully convinced that for my shooting K-7 is perfectly sufficient.
