I knew as soon as the DA 35mm f2.4 was announced, that I would be buying one; your samples here are confirmation that it is a good choice to make. I thought about buying the da 35mm f2.8 macro, but didn't need macro; certainly not one for the prices they now list.

Thanks for showing us your first shots and perception of the K5 & da 35mm f2.4.

I've already told my wife that this should be my christmas present. Great looking shots, I had a feeling this lens would be a sleeper. It looks like I may be right.

It is small and light you can take it anywhere. Everyone at the outing who held the lens alone can't believe how lightweight it actually is.

Some really interesting characters you present us here. Good work.

The combo seem to be a killer too. I have already decided against the new lens, but you are swaying me towards it. Bad boy, giving me lens lust!

Great stuff frank!

Looks like this lens will silence the critics.
Incredibly sharp wide open.
Love the colours.

The 35 ltd. is at such a high price now, even used, that it makes this lens even more attractive for less than half the price.
I think I'll save for this and look at cheaper options for a macro lens.

Question from me is how it compares to the 40mm pancake?
I'm definitely going to check this out tomorrow.

Wow, wow, wow. Wide open.

I like how the design matches the Limited lenses. Now I see that optical performance is also "limited like". Those shots are sharp and I love the bokeh.

Has anyone put this lens on a film body yet? It would be great if it also covers 35mm film...

I've been wanting a 35 mm for a while now, and I think after seeing these photos, I'll be adding it to my camera bag sooner rather than later! Great shots, thanks for sharing!

I'm gonna take a few film photos w/ the lens and the MZ-5n later, but the results won't be out until next Tuesday

Sorry forgot to put the words at the beginning. All photos were converted from PEF.

They are very close in focal length but I would say the DA 35mm has the edge in versatility (wider angle of view, slightly faster max aperture, closer minimum focusing distance, cheaper).
The DA 40mm Limited is better built and more compact and heavier. With the new bodies, the question of AF speed is largely academic.

Dear friend, I need RAW files to understand what can I get from K-5 + DA35/2.4.
Pentax Photo Utility is very weak converter for me with results close to in-camera JPEG.
That's why I ask RAW.

Then you have to wait for some one to upload the files for you somewhere. I don't have any place to upload such big files.
