Not quite. The K7 has 1024p (3:2 ratio) video as well

This is true, however the focus hunting in the D7000 clips I've seen is quite distracting. The fixed focus of the K7 and Kx is perfectly fine provided you use the correct lens and focal range setting for the clip you are about to shoot.

Indeed, this is why professionals have focus pullers / focus gearing. I actually appreciate the lack of AF, as hunting can make you sick on video. The true answer to this is the Panasonic AF100, which will have locking follow focus rather than a hacked on AF, but yes more often than not focus will still be pulled manually.

I wish video would allow you to zoom in on your image while shooting to evaluate better if your focus is on. Manual focus is not that hard and often, in relatively static situations, you won't be changing focus much anyway, but some helps would be useful (sort of like it zooms on live view).

I use both KA primes and AF lenses in manual mode on the K-x and get satisfactory results. The main detractor not being a focus issue, but the inescapable background noise the camera records when compensating for light and OOF. This is a known anomaly in all the new DSLR/HD cameras right now (Canon, Nikon, and Pentax) using HD video, with perhaps the one exception of the LUMIX GH2.

I agree. I'm wondering what my old M-series perfect prime glass would do on the K5? I don't think the autoexposure (not autofocus) would still be there, do you?

RE: Pentax pricing on the K5. There is quite an uproar over it right now (pending the final street price later this month).

Sony right now has the best implementation of an APSC sensor in video, with real autofocus that actually works. But it was expected, they have a lot more experience in video than anybody else.

Yes, but it is at significant cost when it comes to still photography. I would not be willing to deal with the A55's constraints just to get auto focus with video.
