K-5 Videos

I made this thread so we can post here videos shot with the K-5. Best if you can post the videos that are 720p or 1080p

Pentax K-5 and FA 35mm

a 720p movie

This one is mind blowing, watch it in 1080p, but unfortunately I think for some parts of the movies he used still images (interval shooting) that's why those parts are so sharp and nice

Most of the third video is time lapse, with very little actually being video out of the camera. Very cool, though.

One problem about judging video quality, in general, on the web is they are converted and compressed down by the hosting site. So the hosting site that compresses the least will have the better video.

Very cool videos anf I hope to see more. On the first video was it on manual or auto focus? Dont know if it was on purpose but the video stayed unfocused for a few seconds it seemed after you panned. It was apparent on the flowers and the green leaves.

is there any reason why you couldn't control aperture in video mode if you lens has the ring?

What about High ISO videos

I am interested in seeing the quality of Videos in low light conditions.

And another beautiful video from the same person as the one in the first post, again, with real footage + interval shooting

Any idea if it auto-focuses when shutter is half-pressed during recording?

I"m sorry to ask but why is every video I"ve seen from this camera jerky and slow to focus. Is this what they are really like?? Thanks

There is no autofocus, so yes, all focusing must be done manually.

If you're doing pro video, they usually don't use AF anyways...they have all these contraptions to do smooth movements of the focus ring (google Vincent LaForet for some of his video tips).

I'm actually surprised there's no "jello/rolling shutter"...that's tearing of the image as you pan/left right. I didn't see it in the lantern festival thing at least...

Hmm to me looking at the end of that first video it looks like the k-5 still has the jello/rolling shutter...but I hope I am wrong. The k-7 is aweful for it!
