I was told Pentax did early cashback on k5 because Nikon could announce cashback on d7000 in november...

So, how does that work with a cash-back and is it applicable for all countries? Is this a Pentax worldwide action, or is it an action of Pentax France? I live in the Netherlands and €100,- would be nice to save for the 18-135 WR

So far in the Netherlands there is no sign of the K-5 or a cash-back unfortunately... Someone here said that De Beukelaar (the distributor for the Benelux of Pentax, not only Belgium) would receive a batch today, I just hope that it is a large batch and that they will send it to our stores quickly!

Still absolutely nothing in Sweden :-(
I hope Pentax has not forgotten us....at least they could send just a few copies here so we can start testing and report to the rest of the community to make people line up to get one for Christmas. Still only slideware up here.

Pentax: Send urgently at least one K-5 to FOTOKUNGEN (they would probably want to keep one for the shelf as well so send two).

I just got a reply from "my store". No news on my orderd K-5 but then I ordered it with the 18-135 and as far as I know no sightings of that at all...

I was first in line for DS, K10, and K20, and got cameras quite early on a global comparaison. Very few cameras though, maybe they are sending higher volumes this time, therefore some countries at the end of the world will have to wait longer. If it is a change, I would claim that a mistake. Better to get a few cameras out there so we can start testing and tell the rest of the users it is a good camera. Only true if it is a good camera though, but all indications show that is the case.

(Only reason I did not line up for the K-7 was that I realised waiting for a new and untested model is really insane....this time I have realised I am insane :-)

Amazon isn't a premier source in Europe.

Just check prices from the various dealers, e.g. CameraNU.nl - Pentax SLR - Pentax K-5 Body

A particularly good deal is fotokoch.de - Pentax K-5,Tamron 18-200
where you get a K-5 with a Tamron AF 3,5-6,3/18-200 XR Di II lens bundled for 1299€, VAT and lens included!!

That's more than they ask for the body alone. However, the offer is no mistake and no joke, several people have checked with them!

1299€ minus VAT and minus 150€ for the lens corresponds to $ 1349.- US.

A deal about 1099€ however is hard to find.
