Yes I think you did. No battery required eh? That's a worry, cos none of the buttons do anything and I thought it was because you needed to have a battery inserted! Mmmm better check that out.

just tried my third party grip without the battery..and it does work

Ok just tested it and all the buttons work if I turn the camera on with the normal switch, so it's just the off/on switch that doesn't work...is that normal??

yes, the camera body is the master switch, that has to be on for the grip to work, ....the grip on/off switch isolates the grip if the camera is on..

Just ordered my K-5 yesterday, with a lens too. Now I'm broke!
Will be a little while before I get it, waiting for the lens to come in stock which will probably be March sometime... Certainly looking forward to it though

Nice price! I just pulled the trigger at DCW for body only. Also got a Tamron 17-50mm on ebay and a lowepro bag. Can't wait for it all to start arriving now!!!

It's frustrating that i've forked out the money, and i OWN a K-5, but it's not in my hands to play with! Oh well, that's what you get for being a tight @rse and ordering online.

I am in the same position
Just have to exercise some patience (which I don't have)
