Nothing wrong with a Tamron, many prefer it to the 16-50 for IQ.

I'm on the lookout for some old pentax primes (for the right price). I'm on a budget. I'm sure eventually I will get some Pentax glass. For now i'm just looking for the best value for money for what i need. And the Tamron has a very good reputation on these forums. I hope i won't be disappointed.

By the way, has anyone else seen the note on the bottom of the CRK warranty card that says, "International Warranty Card issued on request"? Do you have to pay for this?
No worries. The M lenses in my sig were all purchased very cheaply (apart from the 20mm and 400mm, I was just lucky with those) and perform quite nicely. So i would recommend trying one of the 50s or even the 135mm at some point. With some patience you should be able to find them just under $100. The 28 f/3.5 is really sharp too, and you might find one for $60-80 if you're lucky

No idea about the warranty card sorry. Perhaps you would only need to request that if you travelled international and had an issue with the camera?

It looks like I might have a dodgy sensor, 2 suspicious looking "dust spots" up in the rh corner. Clealy visible at f22, still visible but softer at f8, more like an OOF water drop. It's a gray import as well. Thought I had waited long enough to avoid this, as it was fresh stock delivered late January. Now have to decide if it a big enough issue to return it.

looks like Dust to me Greg

and looks blurred to?.....best way is to do a 100% crop and if they are indeed stains, it will have a centre stain with a halo type deal going on around it ..the stains look more like this .....

have you tried a blower or wet clean ?

do another shot and see if it has the typical halo..post it up so we can see it...., if its just dust, id leave it,you can put more in than you take out sometimes with a blower!....but it may well move what you are showing us here,

youll need to crop in at high magnification to see it

A rocket blower is cheap and almost a mandatory purchase.

Before you clean the sensor, read about it in the manual - P340 and onwards. The ultrasonic vibrator may do the trick. If not, the blower is the way to go.

Thanks Steve [huge sigh of relief].
Ok Richard, will have to get a blower I guess, and have a read of the manual.
