Looked like a lot of fun (and the drummers were really having at it!) Must have been a fabulous event, and the shots are fantastic.
It was great fun! The drummers (ScrapArt Music from Vancouver) were my favourite because they were as much a visual show as a percussion sound show.

Thanks for your kind words.

If I recall correctly the very first charge should be 12 to 13 hours and after that just the normal 2.5 to 3 hours.

Oh I'm so glad I am not the only impulsive one in this forum. Though... you were a lot more restrained than I. Congrats, Simon, can't wait to see the results.

I'm finding a lot of differences: ie I could just quickly switch settings on the K200 to get what I wanted in terms of the shot, because I was used to it, but I'm finding I need to think about it a lot more. Not that its not as quick, its quicker, but its a different camera and I guess I'm still a bit careful/more thoughtful with it.

Also, (for me at least) the K-5 makes it SO much easier to shoot on full manual, which is now what I find I am doing 90% of the time.

I just love the K-5... its everything I hoped it would be

K5 18-135 kit just arrived!
Ordered from DCW 10am yesterday, delivered to my door 9:05am today.
I can't believe how quick it was. It's a shame that I am too busy today to do anything other than charge the battery.
As far as handling goes, size won't be an issue: it's very similar to *ist DS.
But the book is about twice as fat as the DS's, so I might notice a "few" other differences in handling to get used to.
Oh, and the screen is BIG.

Well the battery will take all day to charge anyway.

But, gee, you are going to have a lot of fun

Don't know if they have plentiful supplies, but I got my stain-affected K-5 replaced by CR Kennedy at the start of this month after a two week turnaround so there are new K-5s floating around. Why not contact them through their website, or give them a phone call and see what they say?

Yeah I'll do that, just thought of it today but couldn't call them before close of business. Was taking pics around f11 and it reminded me of how annoying the stain is!

I dropped my stained sensor K-5 to CR Kennedy's Mascot office on 25th February (3 weeks ago today) and am still waiting. I was told on wed 16th March "don't have ETA yet, technician still working on it".
Very frustrated by my dealings with CRK at the moment. I have also been waiting 38 days for the Pentax DA* 60-250mm lens I ordered -and still no ETA!

Been playing with the K-5 all night and am loving it!
Giant leap from the K200D, AF is so much faster! DR is incredible and the high iso is a huge advantage. On the K200D 400iso was my max iso used even then i wasnt too fond of it, on the K-5 3200iso seems to be about as high as i like it without it getting to noisy for my taste
On the K200D i shoot in manual about 90% of the time and now having 2 scroll wheels is so much easier.

Might get up early tomorrow morning and go for a quick walk down to the park, but its forecast to be a wet weekend here. No fun for a new camera

Strange, I didn't notice a Pentax K-5 in your Sig, were you so excited you forgot to change your sig to include a K-5???
