K-5 in Australia?

I just had a call from Michaels in Melbourne about another matter and asked them when they were expecting the k-5. the fella looked up his data base, told me it was on back order and due in err... Nov 5th - last Friday! You could walk from CR Kennedy's warehouse to Michaels store in Less than an hour. What takes so long to get the camera out to people who want to hold it?

I've seen real stock on real shelves in real shops here in Sydney too!
Digi Direct has stock, as does Digital Fun Stuff - whom I can highly recommend since I just bought a K-5 from them!

Oh yeah, just got the call from Vanbar, my K-5 is in the house, though I can't pick it up until Saturday. grrrrrrrr!

Yes they gave me a call today as well... wrapped, will be picking it up tomorrow right after opening time.

And I would like to add that I am wrapped my wife will not be able to tell the difference between it and my K-7 when I bring it home

Got this email today from DCW

Hi Ben,

I just wanted to let you know that we do not have stock of the Pentax K5 we are expecting new stock to arrive at the warehouse on 29/11/2010. We will update you if there are any further delays.

If you have any further questions please feel free to contact us on 1300 365 220.

Kind Regards,

Might have to cancel and go hunt elsewhere.... What is everyone paying in OZ? $1629 at DCW.

I'd bet that she'll notice that minor number change on the front long before you ever notice that mega expensive new wardrobe fitout she bought herself.

you may be right with me and her wardrobe, but I know she has very little interest or knowledge of my cameras... she did not know I also had the K-x till she saw the 2 together lol

Bad luck dude, vanbar are selling it for $1 595, they didn't tell me the price changed when they called me, so I presume that's what it'll be when I pick it up. But I'm not sure that they're going to have much stock either.

Ben I was pretty wrapped when they called and I was on my mobile in a shopping centre, but I think she said the price was $1598 or $1589... it was I am certain under $1600. I will confirm tomorrow if there are no other replies on this

$1595 is Vanbar's price. The original listed price was $1395 but they stated that as being a guesstimate and allowed any preorders the opt out option should it cost more.

I paid $1599 at "Digital Fun Stuff" in Sydney - Australian stock (not grey) - and no extra charge for using my credit card (unlike Vanbar last time I bought from them).
