email from camera action today said
The new Pentax K-5 is due to arrive here in Melbourne at the end of November/early December.

Pricing is unconfirmed as yet, although current information has indicated it may be in the $2000-$3000 range.

DigiDirect advertised the 18-135mm WR kit for $1,899 first and now it's at $2,299.

How many Aussies are going to get the K-5 local, or buy from US since the dollar to dollar is basicly equal?

If (when?) I get one, it will depend on the price differences and how much I value the warranty.

AFAIK, DigiDirect do source Pentax and Sigma from CRK, and offer local warranties etc. So they are in the same boat as every other local retailer.

You sure? Because I'm 100% sure that the last lens I bought from them, a Sigma 17-50mm F2.8 EX DC HSM OS came with a 2 year Australian Sigma warranty card from no other than C.R. Kennedy & Company Pty Ltd.

Also, their website states:

Do digiDIRECT products come with official Australian manufacturers' warranty?
Absolutely; 12 month back-to-base official Australian warranty. We are among the few online suppliers with direct accounts with the Australian distributors of leading digital brands, including Canon, Nikon, Sony, Panasonic, Olympus, Pentax just to name a few!

Vanbar have it priced at $1599 body only, $2382 with the new 18-135. That's $783 for a kit lens? Must be better than previous kit lenses! No mention of when it will be available.
