Has this eBay seller of K-5 kits with 18-55 WR and DA-L 55-300 for $1,899 (no added shipping) been noticed yet?

(A most unappealing price too,

After handling the 18-55 kit lens I wouldn't want it if it was free. The cheapest plasticy most horrible thing Iv'e ever had to touch. Well almost. It wasn't nice.

In Pentax standards, yes.
I have handled many other systems' lenses, not just kit lenses, and even the 18-55 (WR or not) is better built. Plastic? Of course it is - so is the 16-45, 12-24 and 55-300...

I did go a bit over the top with my description but that lens nearly put me off the camera. I guess I am used to the solid feel of my Sigma 10-20 and 24-60. To be fair I have never handled any of the lenses that Ash mentioned. Look I understand that it is a cheap kit lens and probably does the job it is menat to do, but not for me thanks!

I am kinda with you on this one... I only took a few shots with the kit lens a few years back and it sits idle. Whenever I have picked it up I get the same feeling... very light and plastic. I was fortunate enough to have purchased both DA*'s at the same time I received the kit which added to the opinion

I tried the DFA 100 macro in a store the other day...boy that felt pretty cheap too...but at $640, the price didn't reflect it..

some of the canon low end stuff...is so very cheap....the 18-55WR looks well made up against those...you have been spoiled with all you sigma beauty..ME too LOL

Yeah I guess so, those Sigma EX lenses are really built well, esp when you consider that they are not particularly expensive.

And also, CR Kennedy has a pretty good price matching policy on Sigma lenses, which means they really are not particularly expensive:

Hi guys, I picked up my new K5 body today from Camerahouse in Taree.I done my homework on prices first and could have saved quiet a bit on line.Paid $1795 for body only.( I know I could get cheaper) I think what I paid extra in price I have recouped over and over in the customer relationship I have formed with the owner. He is a well respected photographer with a wealth of knowledge he is only too wiiling to share. I came away a happy customer so I suppose thats all that counts. We went through all the bodies and I chose the one I wanted.
I thought of geting the kit with the 18-135 that would have made a better price combination. Just not sure if I need it.Thats where you guys might be able to help.
I normally use my FA*28-70 for walkaroubd and for a bit closer I use the FA*80-200. Wide and close in your face stuff I use a Sigma 10-20mm and a pentax 100mm for macro. As we are going to the USA in may it was suggested the 18-130 as a walkaround everyday use for my wife. I just couldnt see the benefit of the 18-130 on my camera with the FA*s resting. Anyone have any thoughts on this. I can still go back to Camerhouse and the 18-130 at kit price or pick it up in LA in May.

to be quite Honest...considering all the K5's teething issues...right now I wouldnt want a cheap as hong kong Ebay import deal...

I think you have done the right think mate..you have come away feeling as if you have had some service..the retailer has not been raped..so hes gonna smile at you when you next go in..your building a relationship...good onya.

one thing ive been able to do by buying local..is to now Have a Camera Guy that I can ring if I need help or advice...also they are very willing to do sigma price matching..as no one loses with that..as Im almost 100% sure its a factory backed thing for CRK..

so no more trawling round for me..my next purchase which will be {almost 100%} the 85mm 1.4 sigma..will be bought at the best possible price {anywhere}..from my local shop, with a two year Aussie warranty
