no worries Greg, im glad for you to mate, it would have been a huge pain in the arse for you if you were to return the body....

as I say, my dust is not a issue for me, as I barley shoot higher than F5.6 and if I were to go into F16 territory ,Id clone out any offending dust particulates using PS....

the risk you run putting a blower into the body is transferring the dust else where..and for me, dust anywhere near the prism or focusing screen is much more annoying than a spot or two on the sensor at F16/22

EDIT.

OF topic

just for WA {perth residents}, there's a photographic swap meet tomorrow in leederville....only happens twice a year I believe..

I should be going there for a bit. I'm tempted to look for an old TLR to play with. Are you going?

Before you shop, take a peek at the Vanguard AltaPro 263AT+SBH100 head combo, there's been some amazing deals for it around lately.
I got one months ago, pretty good unit, couldn't resist, already had a Manfrotto 190XproB+804RC2 combo only few months old that's since left to corrode away in a cupboard.

Ok Richard, will have to get a blower I guess, and have a read of the manual.

Yep, as Sir Les Patterson would surely say: The happiest camera is one who's just had a good blow job.

Psst; Hey Richard, I'm not good at acronyms, can you tell me what the F stands for in RTFM?

I've been enjoying this thread while I wait for my K5 to arrive. Not an easy choice as I had to get the better half to agree to the idea plus switch away from Olympus. Stil,l selling some of the old gear has made it less painful on the hip pocket. I did look at some Canikons but, as before, I couldn't see the sense of it. I always think that you get more innovative features with the "alternative" brands.

I still smile at the memories of doing an Adult Education course on RAW files: there was one Pentax and one Olympus (me) in a crowd of Canikons.

Only a couple of days to go....

Of course, I'll need to find a way of getting some better lenses.

My problem too...I only have one after selling my old gear for the K5. Have to get my hands on a DA 16-50 without the "boss" realising whats going on...always a difficult task!

Greg

do yourself a favour, and look at the sigma 17-50 OS, its a sharper lens, may not have such good contrast as the 16-50DA, but nothing that a bit of PP cant sort out..and its half the price with a two year warranty , also sigma here in Australia will price match any online price that you can find

no weather sealing though

Hadn't even considered this lens, and say it's as sharp as the 16-50?
$626 at DWI, $733 B&H, 16-50 $813 B&H. Sounds pretty good for that price! Will see if I can find a cheaper one.

sharper

here's a screen capture form a DXO test, all camera bodies are crop sensor, and around the 15 Mega pixel, I got these when I was looking at either the Tamron 17-50, or the pentax 16-50...went with the sigma for very quiet HSM, no SDM, and price matching in Australia form sigma..means I have a two year aussie warranty

these are MTF resolution tests, red is bad, orange /yellow is good, Green in fantastic...
