Found this video... I wouldn't want to do it but it might help some
Hopefully this issue isn't around anymore when I upgrade to a higher level body

Wow! Unbelievable! I would not probably stay calm.
Well, first thing I tried was putting it back on the KX, and I then realized it would not stay put. I then forced the card down and closed the SD slot cover and turned on the camera, and all seemed right, so I didnt care too much.

I did get a bit frustrated when I try using the 645D again and it didint work... but nothing that needed me to really have an attitude.

Thanks!! This is great! I will probably try it with some older SD card.

Great find Andi,

I am definitely upgrading to the K5 and I will absolutely shave off a little bit in order to avoid chipping off more cards!

Yep, I will be sanding cards this weekend myself. This complaint was my very first in the K-5 Complaint thread I started 10 days ago. I don't think sending the cam back will help as it sounds like most all of them are the same. Its quite a come down from the K20D as someone already stated.

I just have one problem with this solution: Why is it causing problems only when pulling card out? I can push card in the slot quite easily...

Thanks, but this does not work for me..
Just tried 4 different cards in my K5. All of them pop out at least half an inch using the method, this is enough to get a grip on the sides or top of the card. The K5 is new and the slot is tighter than my K7, on that camera the card would sometimes fly across the room when ejected using the "method"

So time and usage is on your side I guess.

WR sealing acting like Chinese finger cuff?

Why is it that the very first thing that popped in my head when I read that was a scene from the movie 'Chasing Amy'?

My assumption is that the resistance felt when removing the card but not when putting it in is deliberate. If one's fingers slip on removal the spring can't throw the card out into a convenient puddle. I imagine pentax have put in something a bit like the skins on skis - slippery one way/dig-in and grippy the other. Perhaps a bit too grippy when new. I am using a Scandisk and find that the card comes out with a gentle tug.

- yes - sounds reasonable, probably this is the cause

Pushing is easier than pulling because it's so hard to get a grip on the little bugger.

No, I dont think so - pushing is really very smooth, easy.
