K-5 prices in Singapore and warranty

Hi

I've been waiting for stock to come in here in Melbourne, Australia, but it all seems to be a big guess at the moment.
My parents are going to be in Singapore for a day next month, so I was going to get the GST taken off by purchasing it here, and having them take it with them, but it all could blow up if the stock doesn't come in. So I was wondering what the current price in Singapore is, and do they have international warranty (and if so, does it cost more)?
Also, how easy would it be to get one, are there good stock levels?

Current K-5 price is below S$1700 (about USD$1300) inclusive of 7% GST.
As a tourist, you can get a refund of 5% of the GST amount.
Warranty is 1 year local with the option for extended warranty (with a small fee). As to international warranty, best to check with the local agent, Emjay, but there are many instances of tourists and visitors who buy in Singapore but ship their cameras back to the service facility over here (it happens with other brands as well). We are very fortunate to have a very experienced and terrific Pentax service technician over here.

The price is good, very good, but I'd rather not deal with shipping in case of warranty, would defeat the purpose of buying overseas for savings. I'll have to wait and see, I'd rather buy the body here locally and know that I had a local warranty, even if it costs a little bit more. Do you know of any reputable shops, I might give them a phone call and see what they say.

Hi Dave,

I'm in Canberra & got my K-5 from Emjay Enterprises a week ago. It's a very good price, & freight from Singapore was quite cheap via FedEx so I would have no hesitation sending it back if it needed any warranty repairs. I also phoned them once (Telephone: +65 6338 8948) & Ronald there was very helpful.

I'm lovin' the camera!

Anyone have any ideas about getting the k-5 into Thailand. The taxes here are wayyyyy overboard now.
I would love to order one from Singapore. Does anyone know how to get around the taxes???

Canberra is the capital of Australia (& a few hours drive inland from Sydney). Shipping was 35 Singapore dollars. Not sure if they still have it in stock. Good luck with your inquiries, time for sleep here now...
