I can't imagine there would be any reason why they wouldn't be compatible. I'm 99% sure it's the same VF/focusing screen setup.

I exchanged half-dozen emails with Rachel Katz last month about a split focus screen for the K-5. At no time did she mention I could use the K-7 flavor. She would not let me pre-order one for the K-5 but has me on a list to notify when she has them produced.

Is it possible they just want to be 100% sure they would work with the K-5, or do you think they're actually different? I'm wondering myself as I was thinking about picking one up and I probably would have just assumed if it worked for the K-7 it would work for the K-5.

Good question. But I figure if Rachel was not sure enough to sell me a screen then I will wait. She told me as soon as they begin listing them then they have enough in production that there will be no wait time to get one.

I've already taken the Katz-Eye out of my K7 and put it into my K5. It even used the same shim.

Has anyone else tried putting K7 Katzeye into K-5 to corroborate Wheatfield's success? Wheatfield, any further experience with the katzeye performance in your K5--focusing & metering behaving right?

It's all good. My K5 screen also dropped right into my K7 with no problems. The prism/ screen assembly would appear unchanged from the K7 to the K5

Would you consider posting official report on this?

I received an email from KatzEye yesterday afternoon telling me that the K-5 screens are now available. She also says that the K-7 screens are fully compatible.

Thanks Matt. They like you more than me it seems. When I told Rachel Katz that the K-7 screen was compatible last month she blew it off as "internet rumors" even after I gave her the contact at Pentax to verify the quote.
