Pentax K-5 bugs will be fixed soon... no worries...

I recently read some crap about the bugs they found in K-5 on Ricehighblog or something, he was complaining about that.

Here is right back to him on this issue, it's not just Pentax, doesn't Sony have the similar bugs issue with the A33 and A55? And I think possibly a little overrated D7000 has some kind of bugs now too. I was just in Best Buy tonight, the D7000 they had was not auto focusing at all, after reset back to factory settings, it was alright, but, it was really slow(AF); and the guy worked there went online and told me that has apparently been an issue with a lot of D7000, there were a lot of report on that as well...

I hope this will lay off some hype about the D7000 is being a better camera to certain people. K-5 is still the shit, I think lol...

What bugs?

This camera is *FLAWLESS* and I really mean it. Pentax hit the ball out of the park.

Those who don't have one don't know or understand how good it really is, especially compared to previous offerings.

I ave not encountered any bugs whatsoever.

AF is blazing fast, camera responds quickly, and high-iso is insanely clean.

K20D...

Emergency 1600
Crapshoot 3200-6400

K-5

I would say from what I've seen of the K-5

Normal 100-12800
Special Occasions 25-512000

There is no emergency and no crap shoot.....This camera is incredible !

Just my opinion and not bashing anyone !

I know, I know, I own one myself, it's a big improvement on the K-7.

what I am saying is there are people out there trying to talk bad about Pentax and stuff, they don't make no sense. All I have to say is that there are major issue with other big brands new releases, but they are always picking on Pentax... what the hell with that! lol

But anyway, I know K-5 is a hit

The main mistake you made OP was visiting RH's blog.

Some people try to make themselves appear knowledgeable by showing fault in their field of interest.

It's all about motive.

that Ricehigh dude has some hate postings on Pentax, I check his blogs for news and rumors, but this dude should close his blog, and maybe start a new Sony blog or something...

I am hope Steve Huff is getting his hands on K-5 and K-r soon, I wanna see what he thinks(from a range finder shooter). I took K-x on Seals European tour, there were some fantastic photos he took with the K-x and DA* 200mm/2.8

Most initial release dSLRs have some minor bug or another, usually fixed by the first firmware update.
To RH the bugs are always big issues with Pentax cameras, they are either invisible or "a feature" when it comes to Canon especially (his preference) or Nikon.

I do visit his blog sometimes, but treat his writing the same way as any other Internet blog of dubious credibility....with plenty of salt.

Until the K5 supports tethering and can communicate reliably with Pentax' own external flash system, (and some other flash systems) I will not consider it a flawless (or a premium) camera. I will not pay a premium price for it until it can do all that a premium camera can do.

Here's hoping that these problems are easily solved by firmware updates, and that Pentax gets on it very quickly. I have enough saved for a premium camera, and I will buy one in six months' time, but I have no brand loyalty when it comes to a 1600 dollar APS C camera.

EDIT: I see on this forum that some are having problems with the onboard flash also. These flash problems are not good news.

No camera is ever FLAWLESS. The K-x that I have now suffered from the batteries issues earlier on but Pentax fixed it very quick with a firmware update. If the K-5 have bugs, Pentax will fix it.

Definitely it isn't. I've tried K-5 in shop for 10-15 minutes and can confirm two bugs which already were mentioned earlier by some people:
  1. When battery was really low, camera locked up. Only taking battery out of the camera helped to reset the camera
  2. During picture playback images do not rotate

You forgot to mention another, related bug:
3. When the batteries run out, the camera stops working.

Hopefully Pentax will have a firmware fix for this bug soon.

Could you please elaborate? Pictures taken in portrait orientation are rotated during playback on my cam.
